Ruth Lina Bø at ART WORLD Marbella 2026
From Norway to Malaga – her art is evokes emotions, reflects on nature and captivates its viewers.
Ruth Lina Bø is a Norwegian artist that divides her time between her home country Norway, where she lives south-west of Oslo in the area of Vestfold and her chosen home Malaga, Spain. She has an art studio at Karljohansvern in Horten, Norway where she can live out her creativity and creates a part of her pieces.
For several years now, she also maintains a studio in Malaga.
With over 20 years of experience as a painter and artist, Ruth began actively painting in 2003. She is not only a passionate creator but also formally trained, holding a three-year degree in visual arts from Nydalen Art School.
She went back to the art school from 2020 to 2021 for her personal art development.
Over the years, she has completed multiple painting courses in Denmark, Sweden, Spain and Norway. Among her teachers and mentors are artists such as Pia Brix Thomsen, Erika Bergstrøm, Ellen Eikenes, Astrid Mørland, Stein Westergård, Trygve Barstad and Ellen Grøstad.
Her art is deeply influenced by her childhood. Growing up on a farm in Western Norway, she developed a profound connection to nature at an early age. She says that nature is her greatest source of inspiration and she likes that things are untouched and authentic. This connection is evident in her work.
The style of her paintings is described as wavy and rhythmic and is navigating the space between abstraction and figuration.
Ruth explains that she creates her art from impromptu sensory perceptions derived from subconscious experiences, which can stem from all kind of activities and memories. Often, these impressions connect her to her love of nature, which is reflected in her work. For her, art emerges from both conscious and unconscious choices, and through her artistic and intuitive experiences, she instinctively knows when a piece is complete or requires adjustment to fulfill her vision.
Anything can happen.
The Norwegian contemporary artist shares that art gives her the opportunity to reflect deeply and explore the world with fresh eyes.
It helps her discover unknown spaces, fosters personal growth, and fuels the ongoing journey of her artistic expression and creative life force. Her approach to art is rarely the same: sometimes meticulously planned, sometimes entirely spontaneous and unpredictable. Art opens doors for the artist – to reality, the unknown, or entirely new spheres inspired by past experiences.
Ruth Lina Bø has been a jury member of NFUK, the Norwegian Association of Independent Artists since Spring 2020. The association functions as a network for artists and art societies all over Norway connecting them and strengthing visual art engagement in Norway.
She has participated in a variety of exhibitions both as a solo artist and as part of a collective in Norway as well as internationally.
