For Ukrainian-born artist and interior designer Iuliia Duplii, a blank canvas is a profound medium for social, psychological, and philosophical exploration. Backed by an art education and a master’s degree in sociology, Duplii fuses her academic background with her creative work to examine the inner world of the modern woman, alongside the universal struggles, searches, and self-identification of individuals in today’s world. Her life and career are defined by movement and cultural observation; after spending six years living and designing unique spaces in Georgia, she relocated to Spain a year and a half ago. Driven by a love for studying different societies, she continuously incorporates these cultural observations directly into her paintings and interiors.
Duplii’s artistic process is highly dynamic and deeply rooted in her expressive, emotional nature. She primarily works with acrylic paint, a medium that allows her the freedom to capture and share her fast-moving emotions with the world instantly. Symbolism plays a crucial role in her portfolio, and she frequently titles her pieces in the form of questions to leave the narrative open. By doing so, she invites viewers to interpret the meaning of her work based on their own life experiences.
