Rita Scherrer-Jenni is a multidisciplinary artist whose work moves fluidly between sculpture, drawing, painting, and nature-inspired craft practices. Rita Scherrer-Jenni is a Swiss contemporary artist whose practice spans painting, drawing, sculpture, and craft-based explorations inspired by nature. Born in 1955 in Langenthal, she developed an early interest in artistic expression, later deepening her focus through formal studies in painting in Basel. Her work reflects a continuous dialogue between tradition and experimentation, shaped in part by her exposure to different cultural contexts, including time spent in the United States.
At the core of her practice is painting, where she draws on influences from Impressionism and subsequent artistic movements while embracing the expressive freedom of abstraction. Her compositions often merge recognizable forms with more autonomous gestures of color and structure, creating a dynamic interplay between figuration and abstraction.
